Eskeleth Bridge, Arkengarthdale - 14 August 2014
The Thursday Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority workparty had a challenging but enjoyable task this week, working on a fairly simple brief from trainee ranger Suzanna - “A bit of wall and a stile needs sorting and a culvert to clean out.” So off we went, looking forward to a couple of hours of pleasant exercise before lunch. How wrong we were!
Brian does the recce. and breaks the news. “Trees to clear back, 5-6 metres of wall buckled and needs rebuilding, bottom section of stile narrow and needs rebuilding, culvert floods the path, etc... Oh and there are lots of walkers about, so keep access open at all times.”
So off we went...
