Gunnerside and Strands, Swaledale - August 2012
As part of the ongoing work to repair the ancient retaining dykes on the riverside in Swaledale, and keep open the Coast to Coast walking route following last year’s flood damage, Guild members joined forces with Yorkshire Dales National Park Volunteers to reinstate two sections of the wall and footpath, and cleared overhanging vegetation and filled in many rabbit holes along this section of the route.
Our efforts seem to be much appreciated by the many passing walkers who were completing this gruelling hike, it is good to see we are making a useful contribution to the upkeep of these public rights of way.
