Bolton Park Mine, Wensleydale - August 2014
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority NE walling team, under YDSWG member Dick Laidler’s fatherly guidance, have been together scarcely two years now but the quality of their work is coming on in leaps and bounds and Dick is getting the team to practice and hone their skills at every opportunity on practical tasks in the National Park.
In July the group were given the opportunity to “strut their stuff”, working alongside members of the Yorkshire Dry Stone Walling Guild on the “Oracle wall sculpture” during the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate. A steady stream of visitors to the site over the three days of the Show were clearly impressed by the creation - even HRH Princess Anne had to come over and have a look!
The Bolton Park Mine wall is the group's most ambitious task to date
